I’ve been giving this one some thought and what I came up with is this: the world will have to “save” itself which will happen through change… so then the question becomes, how do we change the world?
I think alot of our answers are right in front of us. Just look at what people are wanting to do – learn to dance, learn to sing, be happy, fall in love, leave notes in library books…
What if money didn’t buy happiness? What if people began to discover all the wonderful opportunities for happiness out there that are just waiting on them? What if one by one, people stopped looking for the empty “bottom line” and instead started looking for a “higher existence”? Then things like living green, making peace and feeding the hungry would be second nature. It would be a “given”. We wouldn’t need laws to tell us not to rape or murder – we would just never consider doing such things.
So changing the world means changing its perception.
And how do we do that?
By example of course
I imagine that there are more of “us” than there are of “them”. The majority of people in the world just want to live happy and peaceful lives. The average person doesn’t care about weapons and power and world dominance… we’re just looking for a way to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table while allowing us some free time to enjoy family and friends. We don’t require trillions of dollars to enjoy life and we don’t care if someone else has different religious beliefs than our own. We just want to exist in harmony. Be free to pursue our own path and discover our own potential. We believe in truth, freedom and brotherly love.
All we have to do now is figure out how to mobilize and inspire the rest of our “team”!
So, here’s my challenge to you:
Make it your goal to inspire just one person to seek something better. It can be someone you know, someone you don’t, or even an anonymous someone who’s reading your blog.
How?
Use your imagination… leave a dollar in a library book with the message “your silver lining” or just write a little pick-me-up note for the next person to find. Pay for the person’s toll behind you or send a letter of appreciation to your mom or a long lost friend. Think of it as a movement… a bonafide revolution and spread the word… blog about it, write about it, talk about it. But most of all, act on it.
Be the leader that others will follow. Show people just how much enjoyment there is to be had, if only they bother to seek it. Take those dance lessons, learn that foreign language… immerse yourself in a higher way of living and inspire others to follow in your path.
Go ahead… I double dare you
